It’s perfectly fine to be happy. If you only look to the media for inspiration and information, it seems like we are living in a world of chaos and fear. However, it is important to remember that “fear” sells and it keeps people in a state of disempowerment.
I often lovingly suggest to friends and family to limit their media intake. Otherwise it’s easy to loose sight of the overall never ending well-being that is always available to us.
When most of the people around you are caught up in fear and gloom, it seems to take a little extra courage to be happy and to shine your bright light openly and freely. You may hear questions like, “What are you so happy about?” “Didn’t you hear about ______?” I am reminded of the saying, “Misery loves company.”
I sincerely believe that life is suppose to feel good. We are not doing anyone any favors when let them discourage us from feeling good. Yes, there will always be unpleasant experiences occurring (or contrast as I prefer to call it) but there is always more going on than meets the eye.
I am not saying that we should not experience sadness, anger, or other feelings. We all feel a range of emotions from time to time. However, there is a difference in feeling an emotion and moving through it to reach a better state of being as compared to wallowing around in the fear and gloom; and in turn letting it become a way of life.
My main point is that we don’t have to explain or justify feeling good and being happy. We are in charge of our lives and our emotions.
